Nusa Penida The Lonely Island.

Blue green crystal Beach.
Blue green fresh air Hills.
Friendly pure deep smile.
The homely Nusa Penida.

We take the boat from Matahari Terbit beach Sanur. It is very easy to reach Nusa Penida. 65k IDR for 30 minutes Speed Boat or 35k IDR for 2 hours Sampan so you will reach Banjar Nyuh bay Nusa Penida. This will be one of the option that you can take. The boat both take place at 8 AM from Sanur.

Nusa Penida the lonely island will provide you enchanting scenery of hills, provide you challenging trekking or beautiful beach instead. It has white diamond sand at the Chrystal Bay with blue green salty water and ocean. Please note: Don’t forget to apply sun block, as the sun is shining so bright and you couldn’t realize the burn.

Today we have at least 4 places to go: Water Fall at Sebuluh village, Pura Puncak Mundi (The Mundi Peak Temple), Pura Ped (Ped Temple), Bird conservation. There are a lot more place to be explored, however we will have to get back to Sanur before 2.30PM, as the boat will leave at 3PM at the same beach.

We rent motor bike for 50k per half day, or if you stay here you can rent motor bike for 100k per day. But this price is negotiable, so don’t worry. Speak with Balinese language “Uning rental motor, bli?” (Do you know where we can rent a motor bike, sir?), “Kude nike?” (how much is that?) hahaa! Just try it, I think it would be fun!

We have our motor bike on our hand. The island is ready to be explored! We ride up to the hill. Few people living at the island. I’m not sure how many exactly, but the island is mostly silent. Some of the community living at the center of the city, close to Chrystal Bay. Some of them living up at the hill. It is easy to explore the hill, you can always stop and ask for direction. The people are very friendly.

The road mostly empty at that time.

One of the corner, we found high tree and small Temple as the Goddess of the tree.

On the way up to the hill, point view 1.

This is exactly how it look like with the path on the way to the Waterfall.

No! No! We did not continue our trip to the Waterfall and decided to go back to the next destination.

We were planning to go for the Waterfall, so we ride up for about 45 minutes. The road was empty. We found some people walk down or using bike. We asked some more people the direction to Sebuluh village. We have ride about 60 minutes and arrived at the edge of the road. The waterfall seems to be hidden in the center of the hill. So, we decided to go back to the town and get the rode to the next destination.

The next destination was Pura Muncak Mundi or Puncak Mundi Temple. This beautiful temple placed at the top of the hill. At the journey to the temple, you may see the whole island. It is indeed one of view point spot at the island. The road was friendly. We can ride motor bike to reach the temple. We should have brought our Kemben, so it would be easier for us to join the ceremony or access the temple. I’ll be back there again and bring you some more picture in the future!

Limestone.
After Puncak Mundi, we went to Pura Dalem Ped or Dalem Ped Temple. This is the center of whole island. The temple divided into 3 temples, where each of it has different meaning. Some believe that the this part of universe (water, land, air, etc) has it owns Goddess, so here we should be grateful.

Pura Dalem Ped has been being tourism object since long time ago. Some Balinese guide bring their guest come to this temple, just to feel the different of the temple. Most of all temple in Nusa Penida was made from the “white rock” or Batu Kapur. At the front of the temple, there are some restaurant or Warung where we can eat. The price was okay too, I have my nasi campur + Frestea for 13k that time. I think the price was still okay for tourism spot.

Pura Dalem Ped - as one the popular tourism object in Nusa Penida

Bird conservation was our next destination. This conservation was big. Some foreigner work as volunteer too. I met 2 girls from German and a girl from England, has stayed there for a week already when I arrived. They help the farmer to plant the organic vegetables, cleaning up bird cages, and also teaching for the society. Oh, I always love social activities. I believe that helping society is one of the way for you to help yourself.

After the conservation, we go straight to a small beach. I’m not sure what is the name of this beach. But it was amazing. White sand, blue water and a coconut tree. What a heaven! The beach was empty when we arrive, but it will be crowded at the evening time, where local teenager used to hang around.

Hanging clothes at the secret beach.

Seaweed at the secret beach!
And then back to Banjar Nyuh bay, place where the boat will sail back to Sanur. We still have about one and half hour to hang around the beach, so absolutely I will taste the water!! You won’t believe it. The water is actually more salty than other beach I have ever gone to. The sand was clean, like diamond. Well, it was a bay, so some of the boat park there, so you have to be careful.
Rent boat to go around the island.

Nusa Penida is one of the island providing seaweed. The society work on the producing it!

Dried seaweed will be processed for food.

Blue green crystal water at the bay.

Remember: the weather is mostly hot over here, may be about 37 – 39 degree. The sun shine so bright, so it possibly give you sun burn. It is important to bring hat, and sun block, at least to comfort yourself. You should keep yourself beautiful along the journey, right?

Half day exploring Nusa Penida was possible to be done! Shall we get another time to get here? I have taste the water at the Chrystal Bay! We should have stayed here for at least one night next time!

Nusa Penida! Wait for me!!!!!
*love you!
